I cannot host or join help!!!!!!
The error is:
Error: General Failure (Code: WS_WSAETIMEDOUT)
I don't understand what pages.php?p=faq this page says "Modify your WONLobby.cfg file to allow joining games without a ping. " How to modify? (change what to what)

When starting up the save-ee lobby client, go "Patch" select the button saying "replace WONlobby, or something sumulair.

If you can't join ANY of the listed games, but other people don't have problems, then editing the file mentioned in the FAQ probably isn't the solution.

Make sure you have the correct network connection selected in your game options (from main menu and also on the options tab in the multiplayer area). Also try disabling Windows Firewall.

Well, I've only tried to join one game my friend hosted and he's also new to the lobby like me. But I found that Imy friend and I cannot host/join each other's game. I have applied the direct connect patch.

I've just tried to join other player's game. This is what happened : I changed the "default tab" in the multiplayer options to direct connect and it said "the connection attempt failed". I then changed the default tab to LAN. Then it said "the game version does not match the host's version". But I am sure that I have updated to the 2.0 version. Moreover, every time I add a game, the starting epoch is always prehistoric age and the map type is always continental, and the number of players is always 0. It says RIP in the ping column.

What should I do?

If you're using a router, then your router's firewall is blocking the port numbers that EE uses for hosting games. This would be why you can't join each other's games and why the games do not ping up (after adding a game you ping it by clicking on "Refresh"). If you want to host games, you need to forward ports 33334 thru 33336 (UDP & TCP) to your computer's local IP. For steps on how to do this, go to http://www.portforward.com/.

Note: changing the "default tab" in the options only sets which screen is shown when you hit the "Other Multiplayer" button. To change between the LAN and Direct Connect screens you use the other tabs.

You should not be using the LAN tab unless you are trying to play with someone on your home network or on some other lobby system (i.e. EE China).

When you get "The connection attempt failed." message that means nobody is hosting on that IP (or maybe your firewall is outright blocking the game from the internet).

If you get mismatched game versions, then you're either trying to join an AoC game with vanilla EE (or vice versa), or your patches/mods don't match the host's. The game version is in the top left corner on the main menu, ask the host what his is and see if yours matches.

I would suggest that you first make sure you can join another players game (one from the list that other people are also able to join) to make sure you can even join a game. Do this before attempting to host a game, or attempting to join the game of someone who is trying to successfully host for the first time.
