X Warrior411 and Peow's Picture Pimping.

Because I'm sick of moving topics GD topics to the Basement where they originally belonged and then people bitching about their topic being there.

It's not intended to look fancy. It's an efficient, powerful image-editing tool.

It should still look fancy if it's "The best", which is kinda of a trend nowadays with Vista and Windows 7 out.

looks pretty good imo.
radically different from CS2...

I can be a 1337 shooper when i feel like it, that was just something i threw together.

The tool i was talking about: Quick Selection Tool. It's under the same little tab for Magic wand. and it's ONLY specific to CS4.

I'm gonna laugh if this is CS4...
Looks really basic... I guess it's just 'user friendly'.

To be perfectly honest, you are placing far too much value on how a program looks.

When using Photoshop, or any other image editing program for that matter, I couldn't give a shit how the interphase looks as long as it's a good interphase. Why not? Because I'm paying attention to the image I am editing.

What I do care about are
1) The program being straightforward to use--the tools that are most commonly used being easily accessible, etc.
2) The power of the program

Photoshop wins on both counts, hands down over anything else out there.

I'm sure they could add fluff and make it look "cool", but it would not demonstrably improve the program in any way at all. It really just sounds to me like this is yet another excuse for not getting Photoshop :P

I'm talking about doing both...
This is what my GIMP looks like, with some tools out and a color changer.

I think you missed my point, which was that:

No one at all gives a shit whether or not Photoshop has a "cool" UI as long as the UI is very functional and the program is powerful (which is a win on both counts), and a "cool" UI will not be a point of lost sales for Adobe because again, no one actually gives a shit about said feature, or cares about it enough to not get Photoshop. Which means, there's absolutely zero point in adding a "cool" UI (well, other than to impress people retards who don't have photoshop... which is absolutely retarded)...

Minus the fact that GIMP doesn't have everything photoshop has.. And ISN'T THE INDUSTRY STANDARD.

You're trying to make a comparison like:
Milkshape Vs. 3DSMAX
A rotten Tomato Vs. an Apple

And, it's not working.
Photoshop CS4 by itself isn't nearly as good as the CS4 Suite, which is, and always will be, the industry standard.
Gimp isn't and never will be an attempt to make something like PS. It's an entry level program designed to lower barriers to entry.
I.E., a small company that is just starting off would probably use GIMP in place of the CS4 suite, because it's not nearly as expensive.
And, while the small company may use gimp, Larger businesses use Photoshop CS4, because they can depend on a program that has been around for 19 years..

Did I say I was in the industry?
I'm just making images for myself and the lobby (mostly because I'm bored).
If I ever get a job at making images, of course I'll use PS :D
Just not yet...

Doesn't matter if you're in the industry or not.
These programs aren't aimed at the small-fries like you or me.
