Hi everyone.

I have Windows 8.1 and just downloaded EE Gold Edition from gog.com (which claimed that it is Windows 8 compatible!)

I had 2 issues: graphics and freezing.
I implemented the changes suggested on these forums to fix the freezing (by going to registry and changing 2 files).

But the graphics are a real problem. They flicker and glitch in the screens and in the game. I attached a screenshot.
Does anyone know what may be causing this and how I can fix it?

My graphics card is Intel HD Graphics 4000.

Download what exactly? I saw there's a patch available but it seems like the patch is meant to enable multiplayer, not to fix graphics problems?

I gave it a whirl on my new Windows 8.1 laptop and couldn't find a fix for the same issue.

I tried just about every combination of settings between the Intel HD control panel, EE, and the Windows compatibility settings. I'm not sure if the incompatibility is with Windows 8.1, DirectX 11, or the drivers (my drivers are the latest, won't be reverting because they fix other issues).

I think we finally reached the point where EE is too old for modern graphics hardware/software.

My grafic adapter is Intel(R) HD Graphics 4000
i have lenovo G 700 64bit windows 8.1.
i need to uninstall windows 8.1 to 8 to play EE.

Try what gogo said some reason gog ee dont support 8.1 but 8 should run fine

Problem is resolved.

I have found this solution on Lenovo G700 windows 8.1. No need downgrade to windows 8.

Just Disable automatic driver install like here: http://www.microcentertech.com/tech_cen ... 06661B.htm

Go to windows update and search for the new drivers then hide the Intel Corporation Graphics Adapter WDDM1.2 , WDDM1.3 Graphics Adapter - Intel(R) HD Graphics.

Go to Device Manager, remove the graphics driver. maybe need removing few times.

at the end you need to install the Intel(R) HD Graphics 4000
for windows 8. and restart.

Hi gogo,

I have Lenovo, T440p, windows 8.1, and I'm unable to run the EE1 in my laptop. I tried using the method that you described but when I wasn't able to install Intel(R) HD Graphics 4000; it indicates that this is for 3rd generation laptop and it can't be installed in your laptop, 4th generation.

Do you have a way to install Intel(R) HD Graphics 4000 or any other method to make EE1 run in windows 8.1?

its intel 4000 hd what causes the problems i already posted to intel and they say its the manufacture you have to speak to so they are just passing the blame.

same problems with win 8.0 and Intel(R) HD Graphics 4400.

is the problem solved? - I need to kill Earth again...
I couldn't solve it, but tried really much..
is there anybody there who can help me with that problem, maby with teamviewer, I would appreciate it if you can help me..
