Hey guys,

first of all I searched the forum for a similar problem but could not find any solution for my problem. If there has been a solution given in an earlier post I apologize.
Long story short: Got a new computer (Asus K75D), 8gb RAM, Windows 8 (64bit), graphic: amd a10-4600m apu.
Wanted to play some EE with a friend oversea over the Lobby-client and used the complete install package from xootle (viewtopic.php?f=10&t=4889) and was happy how uncomplicated everything was (thanks at this point). After opening the ports in my router we could play for a few hours and everything went perfectly and smoothly. Next day we wanted to try the same again and somehow my game always crashed after round about 10minutes.
So I did the next best thing and reinstalled it after trying to start it as admin and in different service packages (windows xp (service pack 3), 98) with the same setup I used before (xootle). And now my game freezes everytime I try to load a game, setup a random map game in SP or even loading a campaign scenario. I am not very versatile or experienced with changing anything in my graphic settings so if the problem may lay there I would greatly appreciate any help.
By the way it's great to see that there still is a community that puts that much effort into EE that game made my childhood.

completely uninstall ee, registry and such. omega posted it somewhere here

Same problem. After closing the game the same problem returned after starting it again few hours later. Don't wanna reinstall everything every time I want to play EE. Anyone has ideas?

According to what you wrote in the message to me
I really think that its a problem with your comp
cause i never heard of that problem before (that the game freezes when hosting a game).
Do you maybe use game ranger on the same comp?
Maybe update your graphics driver.
If the problem is still the same i can only recommend to let me watch your comp via TeamViewer,
just message me when you have time


*The problem should not be related to Windows 8 cause i also use Win8 and i can play without any problems.

this game was no where near designed for win 8, which if found a lot of fuck up in for older gaming

and by overseas i susupect hes military which they preceved it a a comprimise in security which would shut you down, but on the personal playin with yourself it shouldnt have any effect
it could also just be a registry error thats fuckin shit up
sin 8 bein newish the "revert to old spec" option could be flawed,after all the people that put these systems out are retartded and dont configure specs acording to game systems more than 2 years old

on a personal note, ive found 8 to be absolute shit, i hate the interface, fuck that touchpad shit that they are trying to draw a pc twards
i think win 8 is the absolute death to ee and aoe gaming, such as the loss of DOS killed so many great games, and though zork was good it wasnt great so fuck you lol
win 8 came out made ee an emulator game as far as i can see right now, i havent really done a whole lot of work in it because i still have win 7 on THIS comp, i also have another come i use for my DOS gaming, such as doom and xeen, and i still have a comodore 64 stashed away for when i just cant get enough zork

just saw that somebody replied on my post.
I tried everything basically. nothing changed. drivers updated and i dont have game ranger installed. wrote to xootle regarding the team viewer but didnt receive an answer in 3 weeks. ah well i dont expect so much effort. would be too much
if it is really the registry thats fucked up is there any methong to control if that's the case?

EDIT: Srsly? i just bought the game after a few days online and it arrived yesterday. installed it now and works abolutely flawlessly! No clue why but EE with CD and without patches atleast works fine for me. So I don't think Win8 is the problem in this case
