Hamachi Lan problem

Me and my friend have been trying to have a few games but haven't been able to we were wandering if anyone could help,

we both tried hosting the usual way but neither of us had the right ports forwarded and neither wanted to fiddle around changing them (not wanting to mess anything up especially as other people use different networks and such in our houses).

We then tried hamachi and after a bit off messing around we managed to join each other on the lan tab and start the game. We could both start the game, and load up but then it would say waiting for players on the loading screen and wouldnt put either of us into the game until on of us had left.
When we tried pinging each other over hamachi it timed out also so i am assuming that has to be the problem, just wandering if anyone knows a way of changing it and letting us play against each other...

Failing that we are going to meet up and play face to face so i am also wandering whats the best way to set up a lan game, does the game automatically recognise other computers on the network or is there anything we should watch out for?

Thanks
Chezz

Mod edit: this post does not directly answer your question and it is probably not very helpful since it has a snobby tone

If you forwarded your ports correctly you can use the Direct Connect system instead of Hamachi and/or LAN ; -).

Explanation of hosting please follow this link:

The staff here doesn't really support Hamachi or other LAN tunneling systems. I personally do not use it, so I have no expertise that can help solve your problem.

If other users are familiar with Hamachi, they are free to help you. Unfortunately, that is a very small audience around here.

In terms of setting up an actual LAN game where all players are on the same real network, there is nothing to it. Once you have your computers hooked up, just start up EE and work your way to the LAN area. As long as you don't have multiple network adapters (just pick the right one in settings if you do) or anything weird then everything is automatic.

And since these posts will be removed anyways because the person who editted my post is a shit face who can't agree with the fact I helped someone and he/she didn't ( not sure if ghost is male lmfao fuck off ). U really piss me off, and if it gets deleted i'll repost it again, and again and again and again and again ^e6..

Than I'll probaly get banned from the forums so i'll start spamming it on the lobby, where I also will get banned and than the proof arrived: staff = retarded.

( Will the good part of the staff please ignore what i'm writing here thank you ).

Thanks for the response, i know what u mean most people dont have to. Its only because i do not want to forward any ports due to my dad using the internet for his work (complicated it vpn stuff...) so i didnt want to mess around with any of that incase it screwed up. I did try gameranger but didnt really understand how it all worked, i much prefer the nukinfuts lobby.
We are gona just meet up and play it over lan, we meet up every week so shouldnt be too much of a problem.

I also wana say Lightnessking that infact Ghost was more helpful than you were, im not surprised that not many people play this game anymore due to the community being so hostile. I get fed up with all the anger i read from people about different things and so thats why i havent played for years (i used to play multiplayer on the ea lobby system). I think the new lobby is brilliant but the people that use it are not. Maybe i am being harsh but people are so unforgiving to new players and people who may just be playing the game for fun that i just lose interest after a while. If you really want this to be the great fun multiplayer game it cld be surely attracting new players is the 1st thing u sld do.
Anyways sorry for the rant and cheers for the help

No matter what you do these days, it seems that there's no simple way to play EE online. I'll be the first to admit that our system is not simple by any means. GameRanger and Hamachi get into even more complicated technology, though it's a bit less fragmented. It really does add a lot of difficulty when you want to do something as easy as play a game.

If your dad uses VPN software for work and has some special router configurations, he may have the knowledge to set up port forwarding for you (I'm just guessing, but there could be a slight chance!) and you could ask him to do it for you. That way you don't get blamed for screwing up his stuff :P .

Lightnessking, if you had read the OP you would have recognized that he must've already read the information on hosting with port forwarding. He was concerned with possible complications, so just saying "If you [did it] correctly" and throwing that same information back at him doesn't help. Also, it says Hamachi in the topic title so maybe that offers a clue to the type of answer he wants? Being honest and saying that you can't be helpful is usually better than misguidance or pressuring someone into something they don't want to do.

I'm sure the problem is not someone being jealous that you helped someone first. We've all helped our fair share of people and we all still want to help. In this case, it's more important that the person receives the appropriate help, and less important that the person helping increases their post count.

In any case, the optimal outcome would be that they ended up forwarding their ports successfully so they could play with each other and with the rest of us. I would love to welcome a new member to the community. However, that was not the question at hand and perhaps the OP needs more assistance than our generic links.

I'm not surprised the post got deleted, all I tried was to get him into the community by using the direct connect system and some moderator/admin (Can't tell who) tries to prevent it :').

I was not getting him into something he don't want, I was just proposing a different solution to play Empire Earth online

I can't requote the deleted part since I'm not at home but I wrote in it: This way you can play EE online with your friends AND other players. (EE - Online - Friends, that was his goal right?? Tell me if I'm wrong? )

And chezz you're right about the hostility of the community, but that's because barely people care about each other and if you do one thing wrong you'll get to know it for months :').
