changing textures?
How do you change the textures for the units in EE?
is it possible to write new ones, you know, make the game look better?

Re: changing textures?
Changing textures is easy.
Doing what you're apparently thinking of is not possible. The graphics are as good as they're ever going to get.

Re: changing textures?
well that's not necessarily true omega, you could redo the bitmaps in say 300 res, and that would put more pixels per texture.. so you could theoretically make the graphics better, however, it's impossible to inject new models into the game for a unit such as a citizen.
Tanks/planes/buildings could be drastically altered though.

Re: changing textures?
The models themselves couldn't be remade, but remaking the textures into a higher quality, and using them, would make the units look slightly better, and we could say 'Empire Earth now has better graphics'
would attract a shitload of players
If I could, I would make some of the textures.
-edit- I'm actually editing them right now, it's hard as hell if you don't know what your doing...

Re: changing textures?
yeah i doubt that with your gimp skills that any editing you did would be for the better...

Re: changing textures?
i don't pay enough attention to the units detail to care.
if i want to see hi-res units that are the size of a screw, then i'll play more world in conflict.

Re: changing textures?
Right... anywho, to actually answer the question. You can extract the texture files using EE Studio and then simply edit them as you like using any image editing program you want. Exactly how far that editing can be taken idk.

Does the texture HAVE to be 64x64 or can it be bigger and still work?
making things to that size is hard without shitting it up.

Idk if gimp has the option, but change the image size to 64x64, at 300 pixels per sq. inch.
That'll give you a ton more pixels to work with, meaning you can inject better quality textures..
maybe..
