User control panel -> Profile -> Edit Signature -> put URL to image in image tags.

How to upload an image somewhere else? Use any of the numerous sites that allow free image uploading, etc. (Which is the link you put in the image tags for your signature...)

1. Go to http://www.imageshack.us/
2. Upload image
3. Get the DIRECT URL TO IMAGE from the result page
4. Go to signature page in your UCP and put in the code:

Code: Select all

[img]http://direct.url.to/your/image.ext[/img]

Failz

You don't upload it to here, you upload it to Imageshack/Photobucket/whatever, then you put the image code where your sig would be in Control Panel.

Change it to a good format, depending on what you need.
png. is good for quality images.
gif. is good for animations.
Some of the more commonly used formats are bmp., and jpeg. however, it won't be as high quality of PNG, so I recommend PNG.

You can change the format very easly by opening your image in an image editing program (It can be any, even MS paint), save it to one of the formats listed above, then upload and your in business.

Use .png, it doesn't have nearly as much compression as .jpeg, but it allows transparency, and it isn't a lossy format.

You're trying to upload an XCF file, which is the native GIMP format. You'll need to open it up again and "Save As" as different file type such as JPG, PNG, or GIF (you shouldn't use GIF for a signature). Then, you'll want to upload that new file to ImageShack.

Unless your signature requires transparency, use JPG because it's a more web-friendly format.

Here's a side by side comparison of my signature in PNG and JPG formats. There is absolutely no visible difference in quality, however the JPG has a slightly smaller file size.
