No black pixels

Hi all,
Since installing NeoEE on a new laptop I find black pixels on the HUD are now clear. This means that the minimap is always fully revealed to me (although still darkened with fog of war) which obviously has an impact on games. Various icons for units/buildings etc are also effected. Interestingly the actual map itself remains fully black even though the minimap is revealed.
Has anyone else experienced/solved this? Playing with the graphics settings doesn't appear to have helped. I'm running an NVIDIA GeForce GTX 1660 Ti graphics card if that helps.
