Lagging
GreatSaxony has a lagging-problem. He has 14.1 mbit/sec and no other programs running while playing.
Other games (newer once) doesn't lagg at all for him as well. Anyone got an idea of how to fix this?

Re: Lagging
thanks
here is some more info, all I know:
I sit behind a router. I used wireless and then tried a cable. Both times the speed is the same, around 14 Mbit/sec (officially 16). So I think this doesnt matter?
I have no other porgrams running in the back, dont download anything.
I have Zone alarm firewall set on "game mode".
I cannot host games. I mean, I can, but no one can join. I dont know why.
I opened port 33334-33336 for both TCP and UDP, but while setting this my router asked me for the "triggering port". I dont know. I just typed 33334 TCP.
The weirdest of all: I just played a game and checked my ping right before. I had 10 green beams. I think that's even the highest possible.. and then the game started and I still lagged every 15 sec for 1 sec. -.-
I did read the help section both here and in lobby. here: says nothing about lagging. lobby: just says ask your administrator for help. Well. If any body here has similar expericnes before, please help me.
Thanks everybody.

Re: Lagging
www.speedtest.net
Do you see any ups&downs while doing the test? (You see a graphical line diagram somewhere.)
Or if you do a ping to whatever website, is it constantly the same miliseconds, or is it like. 5 ms - 150 ms - 5 ms - 400 ms - 7 ms.

Re: Lagging
when I do speedtest, there are not really ups and downs, but when I do ping test, it's a different ping everytime.
I went on www.pingtest.net and it first looked for the closest server (which in my case was about 160 km) and then the ping was between 45ms and 120ms. Usually around 75. And the Jitter between 50ms and 120ms. Package loss around 13%. (its a cool website
) and it rates these ping numbers as very poor, but speed as very good. Well, I dont know.. I think the ping is up to where the EE host lives. I live in Germany and when someone hosts a game in West Samoa of course its a bad ping. But even with other Germans its bad
And the weird thing is that I have always 9 or 10 green beams. So EE says I'm ok.
Well, if you know a better or more compareable way to test ping or idk whats is a normal ping?
I still can't play EE online.. even when I do obs I lag.

Re: Lagging
normal ping is command prompt -> ping google.** (Note: Replace ** with com/nl/fr/de etcetc.
(Hold your windows logo flag button on your keyboard, and press R.
Typ: cmd
Typ: ping google.**

Re: Lagging
13% package loss is a lot, that could explain why you're lagging o.O.
But now the problem is, how to solve it :\ and I don't have any idea. Perhaps a driver card, but since you said it's only affected in EE (Correct me if I'm wrong.) and you have no lagg problems in any other games.

Re: Lagging
What do you guys have as results from pingtest.net ?
I dont play alot of other online games, actually only Soldier of Fortune 2 which is as old as EE
But there I have ping of 25ms. When I ping google.de I have either 15 - 25 ms or nothing. I did it a couple of times. It's either super fast like 15ms (80% of the times) or it wont ever answer (20% of the times).
Well, its ok.. maybe someday someone will read this here who had a similar problem and solved it and can answer then. until then.. good bye EE unfortunately. Actually now I can finally write my thesis and finish my studies lol.. Oh and in November I will move, lets see how the new city is. If the problem is still there, its my laptop, if its gone it was my tiny towns fault..
hf everybody

Re: Lagging
ok the pings that you received nothing is causing your lagg, altho that's what I think. Maybe omega should confirm it or someone else who has knowledge about networks.
have you tried using a wire while wireless has been disabled?

Re: Lagging
yes I disabled wireless when I used cable. I will move in a few weeks and then I have all new conditions anyway.. except the laptop. I will wait until then. Maybe all problems are gone then.
