Problems with Gold Edition

I have EE gold edition that i bought from GOG (without AoC installed on my system). i installed omega patch 1.4 off some website and i cant play any game through Game Ranger. it gets to the multiplayer lobby and nothing happens. tried this many times with other players - taking off firewall, reinstalling etc no difference. i tried depatching it to 1.0 but then it can't patch to 1.04 due to "old file found" error.

any help please?

GameRanger doesn't use any official Sierra updates (i.e. 1.0.4.0 & 2.0 patches) and I'm not sure if they use any of Omega's GR patches still. You'd be better off asking for help from other GR players or on the GR forums.

Having bought the game from GOG isn't the problem, since other people have had success with it before.

And then only Omegas 1.3 patch. You can find the patch here: http://www.midknights.bravehost.com/EESetup.html

The majority of the Game Ranger player uses this patch.

If your using a name with " - " (dashes) in it, it will not continue automaticly to the next screen.

Could be that the gold edition already has the official patches included. Anyway, download Empire Earth unlimited then; viewtopic.php?f=10&t=1206

You still can play with this version via the Save-ee Lobby. ^^

For the Save-ee Lobby you need a EE with both of the official patches and the omega patch.
For Gameranger you just need the omega patch (though a different).

Since the official patches seems to be included in the version you bought, I's pretty clear what I meant..

Have you managed to install all patches etc, so that your game version (eec) is v2.00.6345, Omegas patch 2.2 ? You can see you game version in the main menu in the upper left corner.

As Lacrimosa asked, it would help greatly if you described when exactly you get this error. The best description would be exact what you click, in the order you click it, from the main menu up until the error occurs.

This may be related to the direct connect patch, which changes a value called "CDKeyCheck" to false. You can try applying the direct connect patch via the patch tool in the lobby. This may not fix the problem however, and you may have to try reinstalling the game(s) with the previously suggested key(s).

it happens when i have it patched to v2 with omega 2.2 on, i go on direct connect, add a hosted game and paste its IP (which i copy from lobby), i click join and it says "invalid cd-key"

the installation doesn't require CD-keys, because it's through GOG

i'll try the direct connect patch when i get home
