Graphics Cards!

Because I'm sick of moving topics GD topics to the Basement where they originally belonged and then people bitching about their topic being there.

Graphics Cards!

Post by Moo »

What do you guys think 4890 or a 5830 :o? 4890 is cheaper and runs better then the 5830 but the DX11 is the big difference and then again DX11 isnt in many games and isnt as stable as DX10.1 Or should i just screw that and bang more money for a kewl 5850 or 5870?

Runs better if your counting 1 or 2 frames but no always does the 4890 beat the 5830. If I had to go with either I would go with 5830 forsure.

I think you should stop being a cheap bitch and get 5850 for around $60-70 more. Compared to 5830 and 4890 the 5850 is a beast!

Check This out if you haven't already.

Lol Nola I got other things i need to pay for, But I was thinking the 5850 aswell I don't think the 5870 is really worth that 100 boost :P. Besides I really do not like the way XFX designed the 5830
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.a ... 6814150477 <-- ftw also Nola what graphics card do you have?

I'm still using 4870 I bought 2 years ago it's the longest I've owned a video card I usually by one a year or atleast I did when I was an nvidia freak. I'm waiting on pci-e 3.0 release in August then I'll probably build an amd 6 core and overclock the piss out of it :)

The new amd 6 core runs with everything intel has out including there $1100 intel 6 core so with a little over clocking the $200-300 amd x6 will surpass the intel 6 core with ease.

Destroyer the way you speak of full towers and liquid cooling your surely a newbie.
All Console Suck I wouldn't think twice about running that trash on my computer much less downloading the shit.

Well im not n00b enough to not know that if your gonna OC to an extreme lvl like another GHz or more, stock cooling is NOT going to cut it, yeah you could just get a better cooler but I'd thought you would do something more extreme O_o

And I never said u were gonna use it, I said liquid cooling because your not gonna use the stock cooler, I just did'nt know what to call a cooler that is good for OC so i just said liquid cooling but they both serve the same purpose xept one uses a series of tubes... like the internet

I want to test something, iNola whats a good GPU that only needs 300 watts of power or less, and yes it will have to be able to run games like MW2, I'm betting someone I can turn their regular home PC into something that can play MW2 with atleast 30 FPS on 1280x720 Resolution, of course since it will be a card that dosen't take more then 300 watts the price is gonna be small, If anyone else wants to find one go ahead its a race :D

lol 30 fps wont cut it on mw2, and if you are likely only getting 30fps on mw2 i doubt you will be able to play their next release if they keep the performance incline they have been doing, and mw2 needs pixel shader 2.0 i believe and i think the lowest priced card that has that is a Nvidia 9600GT maybe the 9400GT does too what is that like 85-115$? I think you need over 400w to use it too, so what you are asking for is pretty unrealistic

So many cheap cards that will do more than 30 fps, ati 4850 which is pretty old card does 60+ on my friend comp. When I say cheap I mean $100+
  • Radeon HD 5770 uses 100-150 watts
Radeon HD 5850 uses 150-200 watts
Radeon HD 5870 uses 190-230 watts
Geforce GTX 275 uses 215-300 watts
Geforce GTX 260 uses 159-240 watts
none idle rating

This also depends on what manufacture you buy from as they all overclock which causes more watts usage.
Before you upgrade make sure the pc/mobo has pci-e 2.0, if not you might not want to buy the high-end cards as you won't see a big difference in performance.
