EEC died?? o.O

Alright, sorry if this has been posted previously...
I'm trying to play Empire Earth Classic on single player, random map.
After I click "Play Random Map" the game flicks to a half black screen with a small window saying "Empire Earth.exe has stopped working Windows is looking for a solution to the problem" followed by another "A problem has caused the program to stop working" with the only option being to close the program.
I have tried this with the original icon for EEC that I have and the one that was installed with NeoEE.
It used to work perfectly fine, although AOC still works as normal from both icons.
I'm running on Windows 7.
Also, I wasn't able to 'print screen' the windows while this was happening.

i am having this issue too, here a screenshot of my error:

i am using an nvidia graphics card. changing graphic options doesnt seem to help.
aoc with neo-ee patch works.
eec without neo-ee patch works.
eec with neo-ee patch causes instant crash.
my guess is that neo-ee patch is causing the problem on eec.
