OLD FILE DOES NOT EXSIST HELP ME

My friend downloaded EE unlimited.. install EE, and when she tries the patches
downloads.php?cat=1
she gets error OLD FILE DOES NOT EXSIST , and she is on VISTA.
Help please.

have to follow instructions in the read me file and use the files in the download

There's a file in ee unlimited called read or die.txt
Reading it and doing as it says is key.

I know the steps off by heart !!!
I've helped countlesss people get Empire Earth.. but one person seems to get an error i'm not familuar with.
She goes to install the first patch, and gets the OLD FILE DOES NOT EXSIST..
So i told her to download the lobby, and reset game factory settings.
And she can now install version 1.4.. but not 2.0
The 2.0 says can not determine game version please reinstall the game.

The old file not found error is, iirc, caused by a missing file that should be there for the version you're trying to update from, but isn't there.
The can't determine game version error is due to the files the game is looking for not being the same as it expects, or there being additional files that shouldn't be there, such as a cracked .exe or one of my patches.
Basically, both errors are caused by things being done in an incorrect order... Try this:
1) Reinstall the game
2) Update to 1.4
3) Update to 2.0
4) Install direct connect patch
5) Install no cd key crack if desired
6) Install my patch if desired

another problem can be when she fucked up the first time the folder it was installed into wasnt deleted completely so there is an odd file, after uninstall check directory and make sure there isnt a phantom file in the folder, if there is just rename the folder to corrupt and reinstall the game and the problem is usually cause by not reading the file and installing the cd crack before anything else
