Basic Sword start.

Note that I didn't go for 15 swords in f11 3, but the attack upgrade so that I can 2hit enemy citizens once my swords arrive.
Also note that I didn't use the double iron so it would be an example of how to start with regular map.

You can get 18 in 3 (or at least under 3:06 seconds, depending on map) without upgrading. With upgrading, you should be able to get 15 in the same time.

This isn't grenwar here; swords are cheaper and build faster.

Here is proof that you are absolutely right.

This was just a basic start video, I didn't bother trying to make it perfect. I don't usually get more than 12 swords with upgrade in normal games tho. I find that to get that I need to send 7 to each iron mine and do 2-2-2 barracks start. 7-7 to each iron mine means a bit more iron since all 6 are working on iron while 1 is making settle. It's really a choice between having a little bit faster swords vs 2 more on towers. Sometimes one is better, sometimes the other one is better.

As another note, depending on your knowledge of your opponent, an early attack upgrade may not be worth it. If you're relatively certain that your opponent will have citizen HP in the civ, it's always better to go for more swords instead of upgrading attack, since you'll end up with 3 hits to kill their citizens anyway.

So lightnessking just realized this was played on Standard. I've never realized it since it most have changed automatically from a time I played on GR or something.. Kinda explains the lack of iron tho!
