Banning Suggestion

Post by ThunDeR »

I dont wanna sound rude to all the moderators and admins, but i honestly think that when people ghost or smurf, you guys ban em on first warning. Atleast give them 2 warnings. If people just start banning each other on the first warning, there will be nobody left. And when you guys mute some1, thats just like banning them, cause they just get frustrated that they cant chat. All im saying is that you should give 2 warnings atleast, instead of just coming to a decision of permaban or w/e on the first warning. People make mistakes, and people do regret em, and people will take the warnings seriously. Again i dont want to offend any moderators or admins, they have done a great job with save ee, but i just feel like 2~3 ppl get banned per week. I know you guys want to get more players to play on save ee, but thats not the impression we want to put on others. Warnings for players would be great. Once more i will say again, that i am not mocking the admin's/mod's decisions, im just saying my opinion. Also posting a porn link or whatnot, i do understand that being a first warning ban, but ghosting and smurfing i think deserves warnings.

Every single player I've ever banned for ghosting* has been warned AT LEAST once, often multiple times against it. Note(*): I'm sure there are a few exceptions here in extreme cases (for example that one guy who logged on while ghosting me, and whispered me demanding I promote him to administrator... then again he had already gotten like a dozen warnings for ghosting at that point... lol). The ones that moderators post should have also all been warned AT LEAST once, usually multiple times.

I typically even give warnings to multiple repeat offenders like SONIX when I see them doing it, and since he's already been banned about a half dozen times for ghosting it's not like he needs any more warnings... Same goes for other chronic offenders, although SONIX is probably the worst as far as ghosting goes.

We do not ever permaban for ghosting. Permanent bans are reserved for the most serve offenses, and even then it's pretty much always after the person has been banned for severe offenses more than one time. (Yes, it's fact that most of the few who have earned a permaban have ghosted, sometimes getting a short ban for it, but everyone who's permabanned would still be permabanned even if they never ghosted anyone)

As far as a mute being just like banning someone, I have to disagree. Banned players can't play, nor can they communicate at all. Muted players simply can't communicate in the lobby, they can still play, and they can still talk in game staging as well as in games. There are muted players, in fact most players who end up getting muted, that still play games throughout that period. I'm certain that being muted is frustrating as hell, but in that case they simply shouldn't do whatever caused them to be muted (most mutes are pretty short, 2 hours or less), or if they feel the mute is unjust they can always appeal it.

Finally, as to your concern about too many people getting banned per week, it's really not 2-3 per week. Some weeks, such as this one (there have been 3 banned in the last 10 days, one for cheating, one for posting a porn link, both serious offenses, and one for ghosting (which was only 72 hours, and ends in ~50 min)) it is like 3 players who are banned, but most weeks it's not even one. Furthermore, most bans are pretty short, even more so given that we'll almost always reduce them quite considerably if the person posts an apology for whatever they did, or provides a valid reason (no, "IT WAS MY BROTHER I SWEAR111111" doesn't count) as to why their ban should be removed or reduced.
