Hi all, in regards to building placement do you prefer:

1. Grid snapping based placement like in ee
2. Freeform placement - as if there were no grid at all, just place anywhere like battle for middle earth
3. Both with preference for #1
4. Both with preferance for #2

Explain why please. Thanks!

Grid definitely. Makes it much easier to know if units can walk through or not.

grid for sure!

unless you want to make a game like settlers (like... even if you "block" unit paths, units can still go through.) then I wouldn't go for grid.

Edited topic to add poll

For me it's grid placement because you know exactly what space is being occupied and what space isn't. This is important when trying to build any sort of barricade because you'll know if a unit can pass or not. I'm also a big fan of symmetry

Grid is easiest for the mexicans and Europeans to understand where to place their building.
Perhaps when designing think what a Mexican/European would need and also a 5 year old would need, it´s what my teachers always taught me.
