Hello everyone— first off very wonderful to see there are some people keeping the EE community going. I haven't been playing since 2007... and left when the servers were shut down...

I just found out about this porting kit which allows you to install windows games (and empire earth) onto a mac. Which i have done and have been able to play lan and direct connect with friends (also on macs) (We didnt need to install any patches or cd keys, very easy setup.. just cost a few dollars to buy) http://portingkit.com/game/957

Wondering if its possible to join your server when playing this way? I was getting errors when trying to run the patch download from https://www.neoee.net/ on the porting kit

beste,

why is it sad?

This game has but only 1 dev that is not exactly active and that mostly fixes stuff that is easy to actually fix.

Also, i think it was answered a few time, but the only shot of playing NeoEE on mac, is through bootcamp (windows VM , installing EE, installing NeoEE and hoping to work)

Well, NeoEE does not support VMs, as the CDKey system right now is using some sort of hardware-identification. If not for this, there would be no way to effectively ban cheaters. The NeoEE installer recognizes if it is ran under a VM and will block installation, as you otherwise would get infinite CDKeys and bypass any ban.

The only other reasonable alternative I could think of is charging a fee on getting a CDKey, such that banning actually costs you real money if you want to re-enter NeoEE. Cheating then is a matter of how much money you want to waste.
