Open Discussion Regarding the Lobby Rules

Post by Omega »

Instead of conducting this discussion on various threads in the banned/muted/appeals section of the board, I think it makes sense to keep it to one place; it'll make the conversation much easier to follow. If you have issues with your ban or mute, banned/muted/appeals is the place for it, but right now it's being overrun by discussions about issues regarding the rules in general. From now on, all discussions regarding the rules in general should go in here, and not in the banned/muted/appeals section.

Please, if you have an any questions or issues with the lobby rules, let us know and we will do our best to respond to you here.

I am glad that the staff has opened this space where we can at least compare the rules.
I hope that all 100 players who are average in lobby in the evening to speak on this.

I spend at the mine.

For the SPAM should be implemented with few lines of code in more an automatic system to block the inclusion of instant messaging within the text object of stopping spam with a timer, the player / user to the lobby by the possibility of sending further texts for a specified period 2 -: -5 minutes. This would solve most of the disputes.
Just to understand how the 'old lobby' of the Sierra with a single exception here would be blocked regardless of what you send. "

The objection is that so maybe you should change the lobby and the server then good but not change anything drastically lower the time to mute that are unreasonable in relation to breach the so-called SPAM obviously different is the content of text that is subject SPAM here Moderators have the opportunity to punish parameters. It 'obvious that if one advertises agame lot is not the same as posting a link to a porn Web site or a site containing material Racial background etc....
Thinking that we are try to write and read English, but we are of different nation and we speak, read e write different language. So it is easy to do mistake with the translate.
You can't say the rule is it. The contest is differents.

Thats for every Moderator ( Just because you only have 1 german ). Nowever it is cause the userlist checks of germans Art. 1 Abs. 1 in Connection with Art. 2 Abs. 1 GG you are just not allow to check the userlists of germans cause we are useing the german Internet , so you normaly have to ask for an "OKAY" when you wanna check the userlist.
An other possible way is that you write in the "Terms of use" that everyone ( in this case from germany ) agreeing the checking of his userlist with logging in. :)

About the spam i dont understand why people have to say 3 times in the lobby screen. The lobby screen is small as it is and people can see. Saying it just once people can see then wait until it gets off the screen then say it once again. I think for most people the spam is the issue but to be fair if i was a scen player i would be only saying it once cus its annoying too see 3 of the same thing in same window.
For people getting muted for spam it used to be higher than what it was it has been reduced alot we hope you dont get to the point where we have to mute cus we rather people hf and play and just follow the rules.

Thats tricky`s say on the spam :P

And anyways they do not check any personal info, they only check youir accoutn name, which they can do without asking for any permission. Your post was useless random shit just posted to complain about soemthing lol

No i am sry you are wrong how ever. What is your job ??? How old are you how can you know anything about it ??? Anyhow your names are your personal names and thats the same in america and england as long as you are a person of a country where this is like this, it is your personal stuff. And nucking Futs where is he from ??? He did the lobby so he is the person who have to save the personal image of each person. Not only the userlist check also that Nola can see the whispers anhow idk how and idk if the moderators can see them as well. The userlistchekc is ok but thats thing with the whispers is realy personal so again just right it in the terms of use thats you allow to see the whispers because with a logg in you agree them . And pelie how you think it works , you can do what you want in the lobby ???? If there wont be any lws from outside the lobby there wont be rules in the lobby as well. For example it calling stupid words would be allow in the piplicity it also would be allow in the lobby so if you are not allow to check personal dates or personal things in the puplicity why here ? If you have law justification then please write here again but not if you just disagreeing and have no clue whats going on , thx anyway for your try

You gto no clue lol. First of all: It doesn't count where the suers are from, it doesn't count where the owner is from, the only thing counting for law is where the server is located. The server country law applies for the while stuff then. And anyways why the hell are you complaining about mods beeing able to see all your usernames? Are you a smurf? Does it hurt if I say your forum username is ottoman?

You are right now in this moment just complaining with wrong arguments to be able to complain about anything because you are can never be happy with something. If you don't feel happy with as it is why using this server? I eman mabye the mods are spys trying to collect all your usernames to sell them to the cia? You can never know. I'm not going to discuss law stuff with you now since I don#t lnow muc about it, but you you can't just take the german laws and say the mods are breaking them. Go complain somewhere about it.

Oh and btw you could complain about any forumhost aswell, because the admins can see all your usernames your email (no matter if you hide it or not) and your ip. Oh and with the ip they can even find out which internet provider you're using. Dangerous eh? I suggest never entering the internet again to be save from evil law breakers.

Ottomann, you have no clue what you are talking about. Rather than go into the multitude of reasons why you are wrong, I'll simply make it very easy for you to understand. Your lobby names do not belong to you, they belong to the owner of the server to which they are registered. Period. They do not belong to you or your computer, they are created, and exist, on the server. Regardless of your uninformed opinion, what country YOU live in is irrelevant.

Daniel, your main objection to mutes for spam seems to be that they are significantly longer than those on Sierra servers. Please keep in mind that one reason the mutes on Sierra servers (esp. AoC) had to be shorter was because people who were merely typing quickly, like in a conversation, would get hit by the auto-mute, and you really don't want to punish people for simply talking (something that is avoided with human moderators). Also please keep in mind that only a fraction spamming incidents result in a mute that is posted here on Save-EE; 9 out of 10 times, at least in my own experience, people are either warned and stop, or muted for a short period of time such as 5-10 minutes. For the most part only people who have been warned at least once (usually several times), or have a history of spamming/breaking the rules, or are REALLY over-doing it on the spam get longer mutes for spam.

One of the reasons that spamming is treated harsher on the new lobby than the Sierra servers is because we have limited bandwidth, and as anyone who was on the earlier versions of the lobby knows, spam has actually crashed the lobby before.

Plus, we're a small community. There are usually not enough games hosted that people could actually miss a game that is being hosted. Some people also like to chat in the lobby, which is something that spam makes it difficult to do. Basically, the only effect spamming has at the moment is annoying people. It doesn't do anything to get people to join your game, because anyone who was interested has already joined your game. Besides, we absolutely DO allow advertising your game in the lobby--you don't need to spam to advertise, not on this small of lobby.

If you have a reason you think that spam should be allowed, please let me know. However, simply stating that on Sierra's servers they did things differently is not a very good argument, because it's simply an appeal to tradition (a logical fallacy). (If you wanted to say, argue the merits of such a system compared to the one we have now, comparing both benefits and costs, that would be different, though)

Yes, we could certainly add that into the Terms of Use. I will discuss it with the other mods/admins, and we will let you know what happens.

It seems from your subsequent posts that you feel that this is a violation of privacy. While I can understand this position, I'm pretty sure that this is not in violation of any law (99.99999% sure), at least as I understand it, but I will not make any definite statement because I am not a lawyer, and furthermore I am not a lawyer who specializes in this particular area of the law (duh). Either way, it shouldn't be too hard to add a line into the Terms of Use about it.
Ottomann wrote:Not only the userlist check also that Nola can see the whispers anhow idk how and idk if the moderators can see them as well.
It is not within the functionality of the lobby for Moderators to see whispers. The same is true for Administrators. (i.e. neither mods or admins can see your whispers like you think)

Unfortunately, some people in the lobby are extremely stupid, and have come to believe that there is no other possible way mods/admins can know what is whispered when they whisper to every regular user in the lobby.

I will tell you how we do it: we have one lobby running where we are logged into our mod/admin account, and we have another lobby running where we are logged in with a regular user account. When someone decides to whisper EVERYONE in the lobby (except mods), the regular user account is obviously whispered to, and it can obviously see what was whispered to it.

Because literally all that happens is them whispering us, there really isn't any violation of privacy. I mean really, if you're whispering everyone in the lobby do you even expect it to be private anyway? (Generally it's more of a "hey I am so clever... I can break the rules and the mods wont know!" kind of thing, too)
