So today i played 1v1 and this map showed up.

That looks like a map called "Plains"

On a more serious note: Sometimes you get really bad/weird maps in EE. The Random Script thing that makes the new maps every game sometimes gives you really uncommon maps.
Sometimes you spawn with 4 tigers attacking your citizens, sometimes you spawn without any wood. And yes, sometimes you spawn right next to your enemy.

This is part of what makes EE so interesting, and gives it such an high replay value. You actually have to be prepared for anything and know what to do in those situations.
